April 2020

If you were to make a list of hobbies that are good for the times that we're living through, I imagine knitting and crochet would be near the top. So, despite everything else going on in the world, I hope that you're okay with me continuing to talk about yarn and knitting.

Newly-published books

[Book: 'Cat Knits' by Marna Gilligan] [Book: 'Wild Mittens and Unruly Socks 2' by Lumi Karmitsa] [Book: 'Cosy Crochet Blankets' by Ana Morais Soares]

If you like cats, and you like knitting, then how about Cat Knits? It's quite impressive to be able to smother knitwear with cats and yet still make it cool and wearable. For me, Marna Gilligan has managed to pull that off.

I hear that some people are making use of their stay-at-home time to start their Christmas gift knitting. If you are one of those people, I salute you! With this much time in hand, you might consider taking on one of the designs in Wild Mittens and Unruly Socks 2. Just make sure your intended recipient is knitworthy!

Or maybe you're tired of being told how much time you have to fill? Maybe you're trying to figure out how you're supposed to do your day job, homeschool your children, keep on top of the housework and somehow feed everyone with a tin of beans and a dried-out clove of garlic? In that case you are welcome to retreat with me into my daydream, where I sit in front of the TV and work for hours on Cosy Crochet Blankets. I'm not just crafting in this daydream, either. I'm also following yoga workouts and cardio sessions on YouTube several times a day. In my head, whenever this is over, I'll emerge stronger, more flexible and holding a fabulous pile of blankets.
